Dwight D. Eisenhower 1962 Typed Letter Signed - To His Brother - Library Dedication
34th President. Typed letter signed “Ike”, May 2, 1962, personal Gettysburg, Pennsylvania stationery, sent “En Route Gettysburg”, to his brother Edgar, in full:
Even though I think the ceremonies yesterday in Abilene were just as meaningful to you as to me, I still want to thank you for taking the time to make the trip. I hope you agree with me that it was a significant and sentimental occasion.
With affectionate regard to Lucy and to you, and, of course, all my best to Janis and Bill and the children.
Two file holes at top.
Accompanied by original carbon of Edgar’s letter to Ike dated May 8, 1962 discussing the ceremonies in Abilene and mentioning “I’m real proud of you” - which is an interesting sentiment given the sometimes frosty relationship between the brothers.
The Dwight D. Eisenhower Presidential Library was dedicated on May 1, 1962 - less than 16 months after after Eisenhower left office.
