George H.W. Bush 1988 Autograph Letter Signed - Aboard Air Force Two - 4 Days Before His Election
41st President. Two-page autograph letter signed “George”, front and back of VIce President notecard, November 4, 1988, sent while aboard Air Force Two and noted by Bush: "Michigan to N.J.".
An uncommon autograph note from Presidential candidate George H.W. Bush written just 4 days before the November 8th election to Helen Copley, the influential publisher of the San Diego area newspapers the Tribune and the Union. Bush writes, in full:
I was so very pleased to receive the endorsements of the papers. Methinks I sense the hand of Helen Copley. If so I am very grateful. 72 hours of campaigning left as I write this note. I can hardly believe it is almost over - or is it just beginning - Tuesday will tell.
With original “Aboard Air Force Two” envelope.
A great relic from very late in Bush’s successful 1988 campaign for the Presidency. Four days later, Bush would defeat Michael Dukakis.
