Lt. Gen. Malcolm B. Armstrong (b. 1941) is a Vietnam veteran, having flown several tours of combat duty in Thailand from 1967 to 1970. During Operation Desert Storm, he was sent to Israel to dissuade Israeli leaders from entering into war despite repeated Iraqi SCUD missile attacks. He later became Vice Commander in Chief, Pacific Air Forces, and on June 1, 1992, he was promoted to Lieutenant General. Armstrong continued his service in the Air Force until 1995, when he retired and became Executive Vice President of Operations for Delta Air Lines.
