Neil Armstrong Signed Lunar Flag / Footprints 8x10 Photo - Stunning and Rare

$9,500.00

Simply stunning 8.5×11 color photo of the American Flag on the lunar surface, with the footprints of Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin clearly visible on the moon’s surface. The photo has been boldly signed “Neil Armstrong” in blue ink in a perfect spot to allow for maximum clarity and appeal.

The photo is encapsulated and further authenticated by PSA/DNA.

PSA/DNA was unable to determine Type status of the actual image based on the image's lack of official NASA coding and original-print clarity. However, the Kodak back-pattern is correct for the era, and the reverse handwritten notations do appear period-appropriate as well: "On Thurs. Oct. 29, 1970 / Autographed by Neil A. Armstrong, / the first man to step on the moon / July 20, 1969 / Visited Sikorsky Aircraft on Thurs. Oct. 29, 1970."

The flag of the United States, deployed on the surface of the moon on July 20, 1969, dominates this photograph taken from inside the Lunar Module (LM).  The footprints of astronauts Neil A. Armstrong and Edwin E. Aldrin Jr. stand out very clearly.  In the far background is the deployed black and white lunar surface television camera which televised the Apollo 11 lunar surface extravehicular activity (EVA).  While astronauts Armstrong and Aldrin descended in the Lunar Module (LM) "Eagle" to explore the Sea of Tranquility region of the moon, astronaut Michael Collins, command module pilot, remained with the Command and Service Modules (CSM) "Columbia" in lunar orbit.

The rarity of this image signed by Armstrong cannot be overstated. We cannot locate another nor can we imagine finding a better Armstrong autograph than the one offered here.
